As always, our main goal was to make maximum number of QSOs in the world. This year we set the bar to 12k QSOs and we almost made it (looks like 12k is at the very limit). Still, the primary quest was to break a decade old EU MS HP record - no unknowns there. The "best hour rate challenge" learning of the year - going beyond 400 QSOs in an hour is not trivial. The weather was the main "unknown" - in the 7 years we were there we never experinced that kind of wind and sea. Wind was blowing with 50km/h with gusts of 100km/h the whole week and only calmed down on Friday evening. We kept all antennas low above the ground (Spider beam really on the ground), made several repairs of 40m verticals and were not able to operate much before the contest. Sea went in "bonanzza" state only on Saturday morning so we could finally raise the last 3 antennas (10m/15m/20m VDA), while we fixed our 40m TX phased verticals just an hour before the contest start. Note, you have to keep vertical antennas close to the sea shore to benefit from low angles (less than half wavelength) and also low above the sea level (less than quarter wavelength) which is always a challlenge in our location (waves were breaking some 15m high on the shore rocks the whole week). Conditions were very good with a lot of echoes and multipath distortions. It was the first time in this solar maximum that the 10m was wide open for us - two inband operators had a hard time clearing the bandmap. We made over 3k QSOs on inband (30% is expected number for M/S category). CU from Corsica in 2025 as MM.
